I trained as a primary school teacher 16 years ago, starting my career in London. I then taught in Derby and Nottingham. In between teaching jobs I trained as an Ofsted inspector and I worked as a national in-service provider, project manager, writer and editor.

My teaching career ended when I was diagnosed with head and neck cancer. I'm now on the road to recovery and doing well!
